Monica Wood

Hi! My name is Monica Wood. I’m a wife, mom to 4 sons and grandmother to 4. I’m a graduate of LSU with a BS in Business Management. I’ve been a member of First Presbyterian Church since 1999. I have been committed to physical fitness for over 15 years and began teaching fitness classes in 2012.

In my early 20s, I suffered a back injury that required surgery and through the years, this dysfunction in my spine has influenced my pursuit of learning how to strengthen the body in a manner that is respectful of how God designed us to function.

I identify myself as a functional movement teacher and hold certifications as:

  • ELDOA Trainer- Level 4

  • RYT-500 (500 hour Registered Yoga Teacher)

  • Roll Model Method Practitioner

  • ACSM Personal Trainer

  • CPR certified through the Red Cross

In addition to these certifications, I have done trainings in Lymphatics, breath work through Oxygen Advantage, Empowered Performance with Katie St. Claire, “Walking Well” and “Aging with or Without Joint Replacements” with Katy Bowman and Jill Miller.

It is always my goal to help students learn to move more skillfully in the bodies that they have been entrusted.

“So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.” - 1 Corinthians 10:31
